3DJ Consulting was founded in San Antonio, Texas by Derek Vasquez — an IT professional with more than 24 years of experience guiding organizations through technology change. The name itself reflects what matters most: the people behind the work.
3DJ stands for Derek, Diana, Diego, and Joaquin — the Vasquez family. What started as a commitment to serve clients the way Derek would want to be served has grown into a focused consulting practice with a track record spanning federal agencies, state governments, and regulated industries.
We are rooted in San Antonio. We think nationally. And we believe that IT consulting should feel less like a vendor relationship and more like having a trusted partner in your corner.

Derek brings more than 24 years of hands-on experience in enterprise architecture, cloud infrastructure, AI integration, and technology advisory to 3DJ Consulting. His career has spanned the full spectrum of government IT — from federal agencies and state governments to municipal operations — with a consistent focus on cloud adoption, emerging technology, security architecture, and infrastructure modernization.
His background includes direct delivery work supporting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs — leading enterprise cybersecurity architecture reviews against NIST 800-53 Rev. 5, Zero Trust, and FedRAMP frameworks — the U.S. Department of Labor, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and municipal government clients. He has deployed AI solutions using Azure AI Studio, IBM Watsonx, and Google Vertex AI, and holds active certifications as a Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert and Azure Administrator Associate.
Derek holds an MBA in Executive Business Administration from UT San Antonio and a BS in Management Information Systems from the University of the Incarnate Word. A U.S. Air Force and Texas Air National Guard veteran, his approach is direct and personal: he takes ownership, communicates clearly, and delivers what he commits to. That standard is the foundation of everything 3DJ does.
